Methodological information
1. Data is provided from the Treasury of the Republic.
2. The above data refer to the number of employees that worked and were paid within the reference month (even for one day).
3. The distribution within the above categories is based on the Department/Service that the employee works for and not the Department/Service from which he/she is paid.
e.g. The general office clerks of the Ministry of Education that work in schools are included in the Educational Service and not under Civil Service.
4. The category Civil Service includes trainee doctors and nurses that work at public hospitals.
5. As from January 2024 the classification for permanent and casual staff was discontinued. CYSTAT has adjusted the structure of government personnel to permanent, employees with contracts of indefinite duration, employees with contracts of definite duration and hourly paid workers. Therefore, there is a break in the series and data from previous months are not comparable.
