1. Lambousa School which was non-operational as a result of the Turkish invasion and the occupation of its premises in Lapithos, became operational in 1979 after the construction of new premises in the Government controlled area. Its operation was suspended in early 1986.
2. The Republic of Cyprus officially abolished the death sentence for murder in 1983 and for all other offences in 2002. The death sentence subsequently changed to life imprisonment.
3. The data refer to the persons against whom criminal proceedings were completed. They may be convicted of offences committed in the year in question or in a previous year.
