1. The figures are based on the monthly and quarterly reports of the Prison Department.
2. The number of prisoners awaiting trial at the end of the month is calculated as follows: the total number of prisoners awaiting trial from the previous month is added to the total number of admissions of the current month, and from this sum the number who are returned to custody on conviction and the number who are acquitted or convicted to non-custodial sentence are subtracted.
